DAILY SHOW: NOT FAKE NEWS
On this final day of THE DAILY SHOW it is worth noting Jon Stewart's important innovation in news reporting: TDS research actually revealed, and JS actually broadcast, the actual words that people had used earlier in saying things they denied saying later.
Too often, almost every "serious" news broadcast repeated the latest sound bite submitted by "newsmakers" without actually checking the facts or what they had said before.
In case after case, JS demonstrated with taped video the true story from the past.
Calling it "fake" news allowed TDS to use humor to guarantee freedom-of-speech protection. But it wasn't fake. (Calling it "fake" was fake.) It was better, truer, more accurate, more honest reporting than almost any other news broadcast!
