7/7/7 - LUCKY DAY
Today is supposed to be the luckiest day in a hundred years.
It's 7/7/7. That hasn't happened since 1907 and won't happen again 'til 2107. Sevens are supposed to be lucky. (I'm not sure why or how seven became a lucky number, but it seems to be special in many cultures; and it's a winner in many games. Here's a summary of some of the ways 7 has been featured as special.)
I like the fact (which happens 10 times a century -- October & December don't work) that it doesn't matter whether your preferred date format is (M/D/Y), (D/M/Y), (Y/D/M), (Y/M/D) or even (M/Y/D) or (D/Y/M).
Of course, if you prefer MM/DD/YY or YY/DD MM then it's 07/07/07 which is less pretty. Or if you want to include time, then the best you can do is, 7/7/7 7:07.
It's all over for about 90 years after 2011, but we can look forward to November, 2011, when, twice in one day it will be:
11/11/11 11:11:11.11111...
